Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that live in their bodies live in Wolbachia bacteria being bred in captivity in the entomology laboratory of the World Mosquito Program (WMP) Yogyakarta. Mosquitoes that appear are female mosquitoes that are full after being given bloodfeeding by a laboratory officer, Budi Ariyanto, Monday (2/9). Since 2011 WMP Yogyakarta has conducted research for suppress the number of cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and then followed by releasing wolbachia mosquitoes in the city of Yogyakarta. When mosquitoes in Yogyakarta are infected with the Wolbachia bacteria, the number of dengue fever decreases because this bacterium can suppress the replication of the dengue virus in the body of the Aedes aegypti mosquito which is a vector of DHF transmission. - JP / Bambang Muryanto / Adi / 19

Nyamuk Aedes aegypti yang di dalam tubunya hidup bakteri wolbachia sedang dikembangbiakkan dalam kotak penangkaran di laboratorium entomology milik World Mosquito Program (WMP) Yogyakarta. Nyamuk yang kelihatan adalah nyamuk betina yang kenyang setelah diberi bloodfeeding oleh seorang petugas laboratorium itu Budi Ariyanto, Senin (2/9). Sejak 2011 WMP Yogyakarta melakukan penelitian untuk menekan angka kasus Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) dan kemudian diikuti dengan melepaskan nyamuk ber-wolbachia di Kota Yogyakarta. Ketika nyamuk di Yogyakarta tertular bakteri wolbachia maka angka DBD menurun kareena bakteri ini dapat menekan replikasi virus dengue yang berada di tubuh nyamuk Aedes aegypti yang menjadi vektor penularan penyakit DBD. - JP/Bambang Muryanto/Adi/19
