Bu Imaroh, a written batik in Giriloyo village, Bantul, Yogyakarta, is taking the night to make batik. October 2, 2009 is a special day for the Indonesian people. On that day, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO gave an international recognition: Indonesian batik as a Humanitarian Heritage for Oral and Intangible Culture (Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity). Bu Imaroh pembatik tulis di desa Giriloyo, Bantul Yogyakarta tengah mengambil malam untuk membatik. Tanggal 2 Oktober 2009 menjadi hari istimewa bagi bangsa Indonesia. Hari itu, Organisasi Pendidikan, Keilmuan, dan Kebudayaan Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa atau UNESCO memberikan pengakuan internasional: batik Indonesia sebagai Warisan Kemanusiaan untuk Budaya Lisan dan Non-bendawi (Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity). Melalui Keputusan Presiden Nomor 33 Tahun 2009, pemerintah pun menetapkan 2 Oktober sebagai Hari Batik Nasional. - JP/ R. Berto Wedhatama/vja/20
